MELAKA: Indian entrepreneurs and the community as a whole will continue to flourish under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI ) president Tan Sri Dr K. Kenneth Eswaran.
He said the prime minister for nine years, Najib had implemented lots of initiatives to develop Indian entrepreneurs and the community, and one most important pillar of these initiatives was the Malaysian Indian Blueprint which he launched last year.
âIâm very confident we will grow more, the blueprint that caters to a 10-year programme to empower Indians will be the pillar. With these efforts, iâm confident our entrepreneurs and community will grow with the Malays, Chinese and all races in the country.
âI think in a period of nine years, Najib had done more for the Indians. That is why we must give our full support to Najib and the Barisan Nasional-led government,â he told Bernama at the âMAICCI With Indian Communityâ event at a hotel in Jalan Bendahara today. About 200 participants attended the event.
Eswaran said under Najibâs leadership, about RM50 million was allocated for the Indians under Tekun Nasional.
The RM50 million allocation is from Budget 2018 under the Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme, benefiting over 35,000 entrepreneurs nationwide.
He said besides Tekun Nasional, Indian entrepreneurs in the country had also benefited from several government-led business loans and guidance initiatives, such as Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia and SME Bank.
As for the Indian community as a whole, Najib had put focus on upgrading education among the community with almost RM1 billion allocated for Tamil schools, he noted. â" BERNAMA39 readsSource: Google News
